NBC NEWS SERIES DOCUMENTS THE “RECKLESS DISREGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE” IN CALIFORNIA’S WORK COMP SYSTEM
NBC has brought its spotlight to the state’s work comp failures in a 3-part series, giving the issue a bit of the media attention it sorely needs. More than 1.5 million Californians have open workers’ compensation claims, and many feel they are up against a system that denies and delays medical care until they simply go away. One woman in the NBC series – Lorrie Mays – committed suicide because she had no more fight left in her after 12 years of chronic pain, depression and treatment denials. Her mother, Joan Dismuke, carries the torch in the hope that no one else will be pushed to the same bitter end. Click on the links to the 3-part investigation below, and please email me to share your story on this site. Let’s work together to garner more attention for injured workers, and fight for better access to the medical care they deserve.
